1. NASA contracts 3 firms to design nuclear power plants for the moon

Our first interesting but weird news is that NASA (The National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has announced that it has successfully arranged for a concept design of nuclear fission energy systems that would be placed on the surface of the moon by 2030.

Lockheed Martin, Westinghouse, and IX (a joint venture from Intuitive Machines and X-energy), who were tasked with the job, have successfully submitted the winning bids for contract award.

To accomplish the plans to place nuclear power plants on the moon by 2030, the space agency is partnering with the US Department of Energy and other big-name organizations.

NASA has said that reactors would “help sustain future missions on the moon, Mars and beyond as large quantities of energy are key in future space exploration. In addition to nuclear plant development, the work completed on behalf of this contract could also have applications for propulsion systems that can assist long-range space crafts in deep space exploration.

Unexpectedly, a severe drought in the largest river in Italy caused a shipwrecked World War II barge, a 50-meter long (164 feet) vessel that transported wood during the Second World War that sank in 1943 to resurface. 4. A man said a TV series inspired the lottery-playing strategy that helped him earn a $100,000 Powerball prize.

The Low-country South Carolina man told South Carolina Education Lottery officials he was inspired by an episode of the TLC series Lottery Changed My Life to attempt an experiment: spending $25 a week on lottery games for three months.

The man would have won a $50,000 prize, but the “2” multiplier was drawn, doubling the total to $100,000.

The player said a Powerball ticket he bought from Kwik Fill in Hanahan during the seventh week of his lottery-playing strategy gave him his biggest win after winning $500 in the first week.

5. Comedian investigated by police after ‘offended’ audience member complains about a joke at a comedy show

UK Comedian, Joe Lycett, has revealed he has been investigated by police – after a person who watched one of his tour shows complained over what they deemed to be an offensive joke. In his explanation to the police, the comedian said he had to write a statement to explain the context of his on-stage joke to officers, which meant he had to put the words “giant donkey d***” into a message to the force in question.

The joke that Mr. Lycett described as “one of the best I’ve ever written” complained that one audience member at a show earlier in 2022 failed to see the funny side of the joke.

The comedian confirmed that the police now consider this matter closed.

He has been touring his More, More, More! How Do You Lycett? How Do You Lycett? shows since March, playing to audiences in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Edinburgh, York, Hull, Ipswich, Sheffield, Glasgow, Stockton, Newcastle, Cambridge, Stockport, Liverpool, Northampton, Birmingham, Belfast, and Cardiff so far.

Joe Lycett had assured his fans that the tour continues until September unless he was jailed.

That was not the first time Lycett had caused a stir with authorities. He did so earlier in 2022, in 2021, and in 2020.

Sunbed-blockers have had their towels taken away by hotel staff at a five-star resort in Tenerife after the tourists tried to reserve the best loungers.

The workers picked up dozens of towels that guests had laid out on empty sun loungers in a bid to reserve the best seats next to the pool at the Gran Costa Adeje Hotel in southern Tenerife.

Proctor said that the staff at the hotel, which features four pools, took the guests’ bags and towels and left a note on the sun loungers telling them where to collect their belongings.

The holidaymaker said there was a sign at the hotel saying guests were not allowed to reserve sunbeds before 10 am.
