8 popular Google Play Store banned software applications to delete permanently from your Android mobile phone

8 popular software apps have been banned from the Google Play Store and Android users are strongly urged to delete them permanently from their smartphones and tablets.

The 8 popular apps were found to be harbouring the dangerous “Joker” malware capable of wreaking havoc on any phone that it infects.

Once installed, Joker malware has the ability to install hidden spyware and premium dialers onto devices, which can then sign-up unsuspecting users to expensive monthly subscription plans. In the past, some victims have found themselves paying in excess of £240 a year for these fraudulent content subscriptions.

According to researchers at Cybersecurity company Quick Heal Security Lab, Joker Malware poses hack threats since it can gain access to text messages, contacts, and a lot of other personal information on smartphones.

In a post on its website, Belgium police warned that Joker Malware was back in the Android devices. This malware has been spotted in 8 apps from the Google Play Store which have meanwhile been withdrawn and should be removed instantly from any computer device if previously downloaded from the internet

The 8 popular banned software apps are:

  1. Auxiliary Message
  2. Element Scanner
  3. Fast Magic SMS
  4. Free CamScanner
  5. Go Messages
  6. Super Message
  7. Great SMS
  8. Travel Wallpapers

The Express in citing the Zimperium said that “Joker trojans are malicious Android applications that have been known since 2017 for notoriously performing bill fraud and subscribing users to premium services. “The outcome of a successful mobile infection is financial gain for the cyber attacks and hacking crime, oftentimes under the nose of the victim until long after the money is gone, with little to no recourse for recovery.”

While Google, in an effort to protect the users from installing the malware online, has blocked and banned the software apps from the Play Store, Android smartphone and tablet users are further intimated and advised to do their part by deleting the software if already installed in devices.
