News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Prof Ishaq Oloyede disclosed this during Malam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, inspected some accredited CBT centres in Abuja during the mock examination on Monday.

The JAMB boss Oloyede said that the 698 centres left are prepared for the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Education (UTME) scheduled to hold between April 11 and April 15 this year but the de-listed ones are not. The further stated that students have been distributed across board to the 698 centres left.

Usually, JAMB de-lists erring CBTs. Two years ago, it blacklisted 72 CBT Centers for gross misconducts.

The JAMB registrar said that those centers were de-registered because of technical difficulties they face and as well as having insufficient number of computers.

He added that the board was prepared for the over 157,000 candidates sitting for the examinations in those de-listed centers.

Oloyede clearly stated that the mock examination was free in JAMB-owned centres but only candidates writing the mock examinations at private owned CBT centres would pay N700. The mock examination is a mean of assessing the operations of the system as the board gets prepared ahead of the main examinations.

The registrar also condemned the attack on the lives of two of the board’s staff engaged in the conduct of the mock examinations in Lagos.

According to him, the very first sad thing that we noticed was that two of our staff were almost murdered in Lagos.

For whatever reason they were wet with petrol and they were to be set ablaze.

Adamu, who spoke to newsmen at the end of the monitoring, expressed confidence on the successful conduct of the examination on April 11.

He called on centers bent on perpetrating infractions to desist from such acts.

From what I have seen today, JAMB is ready for the examinations,” the minister said.
