The UK government has announced plans for 45,000 Seasonal Foreign Migrant Workers Visa jobs for , consisting of for horticulture (picking fruit, vegetables, or flowers) and for poultry (attending to birds for commercial production). This Temporary Seasonal Work Visa scheme, which was recently extended until , is open to foreign nationals, including Nigerians.
The visa is typically valid for up to 6 months for horticulture and from October to December for poultry work. To be eligible, you must be or over and have a UK sponsor. Key requirements include a certificate of sponsorship, sufficient funds (at least unless exempt), and paying the application fee.
The expected salary/wage is based on the UK’s National Minimum Wage, which is set to be per hour for those and over from April . The application process is swift, with a processing time of about 3 weeks.
The scheme also offers benefits like protection against exploitation and opportunities for study. You can apply up to 3 months before your start date.
