A biomass power plant in Ferozepur , Punjab, Inida generates electricity using paddy stubble amidst the problem of stubble-burning by farmers in the state.

Satish Bedi, the General Manager Commercial Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited told ANI, a media news agency in southern Asia that the stubble-based power plant has the capacity of prodicung 18 mw per hour and can use up to 600 tons of stubble in a day and approximately 2 to 2.25 lakh tons of paddy stubble in a year

The biomass plant company pays the farmers for stabble supplied for electricity generation and makes the farmland free for farming

Mr Bedi reiterated the benefit effects on both parties – the company and the farmers as the farmers are paid for selling stubble. Mr Bedi said that Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited takes the stubble from the farmland, paying the farmers and keeping the farmland free and ready for farm work.

He further the importance of setting up more plants in the states outdside Punjab in India to generate  more electricity for use while eliminating the problem of burninhg them.

The biomass plant can provide job for about 1500 people

Satish Bedi, the General Manager Commercial Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited said that if 24 to 26 of such plants are set up in state of Punjab, Inida, they would employ about 1500 people to work in the biomass power plant generate electricity and solve environmental problem.

“Its capacity is 18 MW per hr & uses 600 tons of stubble in a day. In a year, this plant consumes around 2-2.2.25 tons of paddy stubble, the GM, Satish Bedi, tweeted. Picture revealed.
