The electric vehicles (EVs) market has continued to boom, despite the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on people’s lives globally, especially in the US, UK, and China. By December 2020, there were more than 10 million light-duty plug-in electric vehicles used on the world’s roads globally; China had the largest stock of about 4.6 million units, 42% of the global fleet in use for plug-in passenger cars.
1 main reason why people will not buy electric vehicles and those who own them will switch back to gas and petrol vehicles is the inconvenience of charging as findings find new challenges facing the growth of the nascent electric vehicle market.
Many drivers who switched back to gasoline from electric vehicles said that they made the switch because charging the batteries was tiring and time-consuming. A study showed that roughly 20% of electric vehicle owners in California replaced their cars with gas types.
For Bloomberg automotive analyst Kevin Tynan, an hour plugged into his household outlet gave the Mustang’s electric Mach-E variant, Axios’ just three miles of travel range which is very poor compared to roughly three minutes of filling the gas tank of a Ford Mustang and have enough range to go about 300 miles with its V8 engine.
