NECO RELEASES OF JUNE/JULY 2019 SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EXAMINATION (SSCE)

71.59% MADE 5 CREDITS AND ABOVE INCLUDING ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICS

The National Examination Council (NECO) has released results of the June/July 2019 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE).

Alhaji Abubakar Gana, the Acting Registrar of National Examination Council (NECO) disclosed that a total of 1,163,194 registered for the examination, while releasing the results in Minna.

He said that 829,787 candidates who sat for the examination representing 71.59% made five credits and above including English language and Mathematics, which represents a 0.11% increase when compared to June/July 2018 Senior Secondary School Examination results.

According to the Acting Registrar of the examination body, the candidates who made credit and above in English language were 984,152 (85.50 %); Mathematics were 954,399 (83. 03%) of the total candidates.

The NECO boss explained that 1,041,986 representing 89.90% of  the candidates made five credits and above outside English Language and Mathematics representing  0.57% drop compared to June/July 2018 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) results.

The examination body however recommended that three schools in Katsina, Kebbi and Oyo States be sanctioned by delisting from participating in school examinations for two years because of their involvement in examination malpractices.

Alhaji Abubakar Gana revealed that a total of 40,630 cases of malpractices were recorded, representing 3.53% as against 20,181 recorded in 2018, and a total of 18 supervisors have been blacklisted for various offences including aiding, abetting and connivance with candidates, writing answers on the chalkboard, poor supervision, hinting that punishing erring NECO official is in line with the traditions of the examination body which is zero tolerance for any form of examination malpractices.

The boss of National Examination Council confirmed that those officials who were involved in varying offences last year were disciplined.

He further stated that the examination body was able to achieve that feat due to broad-based monitoring of the examination and use of full biometrics verification during the Senior Secondary School examination (SSCE).

The NECO Registrar then advised candidates to access the approved results through NECO Website: www.neco.gov.ng while warning the public against the activities of fraudsters.
