Waad-al-Kateab, a Moslem refugee woman, is influential and famous for two achievements. She took heart-stopping footage from the last hospital in east Aleppo, Syria, which dominated news boards. She also told the story of the Syrian War through a movie – Sama, a multi-award-winning film. She makes it among the 50 most popular women in the world

Waad-al-Kateab’s Sama showed us the endless hope of extremely brutalized people in the name of war.

Even though Sama was criticized for their lack of diversity, Waad-al-Kateab, told a story whose heroes are ordinary people risking everything to live free from oppression: doctors working under fire to save the lives of the injured, teachers educating children in underground classrooms even as bomb explosives blast outside the buildings
