A school boy made his own car and drove it to write an exam

The student drove it school to write the just concluded Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)

The car was manufactured with fabricated metal scraps and an engine.

A school boy made his own car and drove it to school to write an examination, according to a news report

Kelvin Odartey, an 18-year old Ghanaian, was said to have made the car and drove it to the exam center to write his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to write his papers in the course of the week. The exam BECE was concluded last week. The news of the boy’s invention is circulating in social media.

Many talents abound in Africa and yet to be discovered and exploited. It only takes opportunity, motivation and courage to discover one like this.

The news which has circulated on Social media and YouTube reported that the gifted boy manufactured the car using metal scraps. He complained of not getting enough materials for a better car.

Kelvin Odartey, a student of Cosmos International School, Ghana,  spoke to Afia Pokua on United Television Ghana (UTV)’s Mid-day news and shared some insights on the invention. Kelvin admitted that he was helped and financed by his friends.

The car has 2 doors and got the engine from a relative. His late father’s friend also assists and lends him his welding machine to work with. He said that he has been living with his mum ever since his father passed away.

The endowed school student revealed that his motivation came, while growing up, from a voice that kept telling him that he could make his own car each time he saw a car from which he got convinced.

The talented school boy conviction made him try new things like aeroplanes. He said that he needed funding for great things in the future.

No doubt, the future looks bright for Kelvin Odartey. We sincerely wish he gets the right funding and education to manifest his God-given talents to Ghana and the world.

Ghana’s only car maker is Kantanka is owned by Emeritus Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
