School overseers, school hiring contacts and graduate-hiring experts from graduate education programs were asked to rate programs on a scale of 1 to 5 from which Educational Professionals Assessment score were obtained.

Other categories for assessment to get the best graduate schools included Weighted Student Selectivity (which comprises of Acceptance rate, Mean GRE verbal scores and Mean GRE quantitative scores), Weighted Faculty Resources (comprising of Student-faculty ratio, Percentage of faculty with awards and Doctoral degrees granted) and Weighted Research Activity (comprising of Total research expenditures, and Average expenditures per faculty member)

A school’s score was obtained by calculating the average of all the respondents who did the rating in the three most current years of survey results from hence the best graduate school emerged.

Graduate education schools that received no fewer than a total of 10 ratings from graduate school-hiring professionals for education programs in the three most recent years of the survey results received the lowest rank for the second consecutive year.

The graduate education schools provided U.S. News with the names of the education professionals and hiring experts that participated in the rating.

The standardized mean was used to obtain Cumulative Rank Data standardized scores were weighted, totaled and rescaled so that the top school received 100 percent; other schools received their percentage in relation to the top score.

Listed education school deans of graduate studies and education school deans in surveyed schools single-handedly appointed Specialty Rankings Education specialty ratings, such as educational psychology and special education.

School Data for all the 392 education schools surveyed are listed in the online directory. Data that appear in the rankings tables and on profile pages are provided by respective schools.
