Education levels in Nepal is the education stages in Nepal ranging from primary to higher education, encompassing stages such as primary, lower secondary, secondary, higher secondary, and tertiary education, including undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

4 Education Levels in Nepal

The four education levels in Nepal are preschool education, primary education, secondary education and tertiary education

1. Preschool (Pre-primary) Education: Early Childhood Education designated as preschool or pre-primary education is available for children aged 3-5. Categorically, the pre-primary level covers nursery (for children aged 3-4 years) and kindergarten (for children aged 4-5) years.

2. Primary (Elementary) Education: Primary education in Nepal covers grades 1-5.

3. Secondary Education

Secondary Education can be classified into Lower Secondary Education, Secondary Education and Higher Secondary Education.

  • Lower Secondary Education: Grades 6-8 make up the lower secondary level.
  • Secondary Education: Grades 9-10 form the secondary level. Students get Secondary Education Examination certificate in grade ten after completing the secondary education level.
  • Higher Secondary Education: After the completion of secondary education, students can enroll in higher secondary schools for grades 11-12. Students get the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) – the national grade 12 examination certificate after grade 12 of higher secondary education, according to the new Education Act in Nepal.

4. Tertiary (Higher) Education: Tertiary education in Nepal includes bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at colleges and universities.

5 Formal Education levels and 2 Informal Education Levels in Pakistan

There are 5 formal education levels in Pakistan. They are Primary Education, Middle Education, Secondary Education, Higher Secondary Education and Tertiary Education.

1. Primary Education:

  • Primary education in Pakistan typically covers grades 1 to 5.
  • It is compulsory for children aged 5 to 16, according to the constitution of Pakistan.

2. Middle Education:

  • Middle education spans grades 6 to 8.
  • This level builds upon the foundation laid in primary education.

3. Secondary Education:

  • Secondary education covers grades 9 to 10 and is an essential stage in a student’s academic journey.
  • At the end of the 10th grade, students usually take the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
