To use Google Translate to translate text in an image on Android mobile devices, follow these steps:

  1. Download the App: If you don’t already have the Google Translate app, you can download it from the Google Play Store (for Android devices)
  2. Open the App: On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app after installing the app.
  3. Tap on the language options to choose languages: Select the source language (the language of the text in the image) and the target language (the language you want to translate the text into). That is, choose the languages you want to translate to and from. From: Choose a language or tap Detect language. To: Select the language you want the translation in.
  4. Tap ‘Camera’: On the home screen, tap ‘Camera’
  5. Capture an Image: You have two options here:
  • Real-Time Translation: Point your device’s camera at the text you want to translate what you find through the camera and Tap ‘Shutter Button’ to capture. The Google Translate app will automatically recognize the text and overlay the translation on the live camera feed OR
  • Import an Image: If you already have an image with text, tap the camera icon, and then tap the gallery icon or tap ‘All Images’ to import an image from your device’s gallery. This is to translate text from an image that has already been captured.

The translation accuracy depends on the clarity of the text. Translation of small, unclear, or stylized text may not be correct

  8. Save or Share the Translation: You can save the translation for future reference or share it with others through various methods, such as messaging or email. To send to ‘Translate Home’ in order to get more information, tap ‘Send to Translate’
  9. Search Translated Text on Google: To search translated text on Google, tap ‘Search’
