JAMB Profile is all about JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) as a legally-established Examination Board of Decree No. 2 of 1978 (amended by Decree No. 33 of 1989) which took effect from 7th December 1989 empowered to conduct Matriculation Examination for entry into all Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (by whatever name called) in Nigeria.
In the JAMB Profile, it is stated that the Examination Body is empowered to suitably qualified candidates in the tertiary institutions after having taken into account the vacancies available in each tertiary institution, the guidelines approved for each tertiary institution, and the preference expressed or otherwise indicated by the candidates for certain tertiary institutions and courses.

2022 JAMB examination, for 2022/2023 admission, has come and gone, and results released (mock, main, and mop-up) even though the admission processes for most public (federal and state (universities) are stalled for now due to prolonged Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) industrial action.
That notwithstanding, the preliminary questions seeking answers that would probably be on the mind of prospective JAMB 2022/2023 students are ‘When will 2023 JAMB/UTME Registration start & close?’, ‘How do I register for the 2023 JAMB Examination?‘, ‘When are the 2023 JAMB Examination dates’, and others.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has developed the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to automate the Admissions Process in tertiary institutions, as another innovative approach toward improvement in the Nigerian education system.
Streamlining of the Admissions Process
The JAMB CAPS streamlines the Admissions Process by addressing the challenges associated with the manual approach, restoring the autonomy of the tertiary institutions with respect to admissions, and making JAMB candidates & prospective university students the central point.
2. Empowerment of the JAMB candidates & prospective university students
CAPS empowers JAMB candidates & prospective university students with information on available choices of institutions and programmes and expanded admission opportunities, eliminating multiple admissions in the process.
3. Simplifies Educational Research Data Retrieval
It provides easily retrievable data for decision-making and research on the Nigerian Education Sector in the country as a whole.
4. Solidifies JAMB Ideas as the Sole University Admission Provision
JAMB CAPS helps the examination body to refocus on its founding ideals as the Clearing House for admissions into the tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
5. Guides Admission Roles for Tertiary Institutions Staff
The central admission processing system provides information on how the Tertiary Institutions’ officers can operate and use the system to perform their own roles in the Admissions Process, including the roles of the Admission Officer or the institutions’ internal Admission Office as well as the Heads of the Institution (Vice-Chancellors, Registrars and Provosts) who have the final approval.
6. Offers Admission Innovations
JAMB CAPS not only automates the process but offers a number of other innovations including opportunities for candidates to confirm provisional admissions thus eliminating cases of candidates abandoning admissions.
7. Serves as a University Admission Marketplace
The automated and innovative system serves as a marketplace to enable institutions to source candidates from the available pool based on various criteria such as JAMB score, State, Local Government of Origin, and even gender of the candidates; and the requirement for all awaiting O/L results candidates to upload their results into JAMB portal before being considered for admission.
8. JAMB CAPS makes the conducts Admission Process in dual mode
In addition, JAMB CAPS admissions can be processed in batches and instantaneously with candidates being able to check their admission status at any point on the JAMB portal – a dual mode process of conduction of admission exercise through the JAMB CAPS login page.
While a JAMB candidate with a registration number could login into the portal through the e-facility login page and access his CAPS, he could access the page as the JAMB CAPS Login page.
Click here to access JAMB CAPS (Candidates) and (Institutions) e-facility login page where you can login to your account with your Username and Password and can also reset your account if your password is forgotten.
JAMB Board recently outlined non-uploading of WAEC and NECO O’Level both released and awaiting results on the JAMB CAPS Portal as one of the key factors that made high-scoring JAMB candidates (candidates that scored 300 and above) to lose their university admissions. The big question then is: ‘How does one upload his or her WAEC and NECO (released and awaiting) results on JAMB CAPS Portal? How can I verify my WAEC and NECO Results on my JAMB CAPS Profile? We shall in this blog post discuss in 4 steps how a prospective tertiary institution – university, polytechnic, college of education students can successfully upload their results on JAMB CAPS Portal
4 Steps on how a student/JAMB candidate can upload their O’Level (WAEC & NECO) results on JAMB CAPS Portal
1. Visit a JAMB accredited Computer-based Training (CBT) Centre nearest to you
2. Complete a request form provided by the CBT, providing your details appropriately, and submit a copy of your WAEC or NECO result in the process. Do not submit the original copy of your results or credentials.
3. Ensure your personal details/biodata entered during the processing is correct.
4. Login to JAMB CAPS Portal after the O’Level result has been uploaded to verify your result.
See the image of CAPS Portal Login for your CAPS Portal login and how to verify your WAEC and NECO results on JAMB CAPS Portal
Note that while you could upload your O’level result to the JAMB CAPS Portal during your JAMB registration or after sitting for the JAMB examination, you cannot upload your WAEC or NECO O’level result on the JAMB CAPS Portal using your phone.
