A kindergarten school teacher sentenced to death in China for poisoning 25 children with nitrite after a quarrel with another teacher.
The Jiaozuo Intermediate People’s Court in Henan province ruled Wang Yun be severely punished for being despicable and vicious.
She attempted to kill her husband with the same substance in 2017

A kindergarten school teacher has been sentenced to death for poisoning 25 children with nitrite in Jiaozuo kindergarten school in Central China by a court, killing one of them, after an argument with another teacher, according to information from a media report.
The Jiaozuo Intermediate People’s Court in Henan province, China ruled that the killer, Wang Yun, should be severely punished, describing her motives as “despicable” and “vicious.”
The court heard that in the lead-up to the poisoning that Wang had quarreled with another teacher at the Jiaozuo kindergarten over how best to handle the students.
Wang then added nitrite to porridge supplied by the school intended for the other teacher’s students on the morning of 27th March 2019 – a chemical compound she had previously bought online.
A parent surnamed Li, whose child was poisoned, told a media report that she met her son unconscious following vomiting which the child experienced due to the poisoning after she received a call from the kindergarten school.
Mr. Li said that his child was vomiting over his pants so as many other children when he arrived at the kindergarten school fainted as a result.
In February 2017, Wang had previously been caught trying to poison her husband, Feng, after an argument by pouring nitrite into a glass used her husband. Feng suffered minor injuries.
According to ScienceDirect, nitrite which is formed by the oxidation of ammonia by ammonia-oxidizing bacteria is toxic and can become a serious health problem like can causing cancer and absorbing body oxygen.
It is used in fertilizers, food preservation, and even in weapons (ammunition and explosives).
