Exam malpractices: Don’t punish teachers, parents over WAEC’s delisting of schools – Oyo APC warns Makinde

The Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised Governor Seyi Makinde of the state to shelve the idea of punishing teachers and parents in the state, in one of our latest WAEC News blog post.

DAILY POST recalls that the Oyo State Government had earlier said that it would sanction some principals and parents over the recent delisting of schools in the state.

The schools, DAILY POST gathered were delisted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) over examination malpractices.

No fewer than fifty (50) schools were delisted by WAEC in the state due to examination malpractices, DAILY POST gathered.

Exam malpractice: Oyo govt to sanction parents, principals of schools delisted by WAEC

The Oyo State Government has vowed to sanction parents and principals of about 50 schools delisted by the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) over examination malpractice in the state, in the latest WAEC News blog post.

The state commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, who made this known to journalists on Tuesday, November 29, said the sanction will reinforce the state’s stance against examination malpractice.

He warned principals to desist from any act of collaboration encouraging examination malpractice which he said was becoming endemic in both private and public schools in the state.

Jobs: WAEC disowns viral vacancy advertisement

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has distanced itself from an advertisement on social media calling for qualified candidates to fill some vacant positions in the establishment, in one of our latest WAEC news blog post

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the council, Moyosola Adesina.

She described the advertisement as misleading and fake, saying it was the handiwork of fraudsters.

An online publication sighted by our correspondent announced on Friday that WAEC was recruiting.

Digital Certificate: Beware Of Saboteurs, WAEC Warns Public

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has warned the public to beware of the activities of the saboteurs over the launch of its Digital Certificate Platform online, according to our latest WAEC News blog post.

The council’s Head, of the National Office (HNO), Mr. Patrick Areghan, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, in Lagos.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has also said that no amount of blackmail or fraud will stop its latest innovation, in checking the activities of fraudsters, using its recently launched digital certificate platform.

Masari Approves N1.082bn for Payment of 2022 WAEC, NECO, and Other Examination Fees

The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has approved N1,082,146,300 for the payment of the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) fees for 59,280 candidates in the state, in one of our latest news blog posts of today, 31 October 2022.

The money is to be paid to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).

WAEC says it will release examination certificates with results

The West Africa Examination Council has announced plans to make its certificates available to candidates of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination once their results are released, according to the latest WAEC news blog post.

The Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, made this known on Tuesday at a luncheon organised by the exam body in Lagos.

He also noted that the digital certificate set to be launched on Thursday, October 20, 2022, applies to those who wrote the exams between 1999 till date, adding that the preceding years would be considered much later.

According to him, the new digital certificate cannot be tampered with or falsified, just as it would send fakers out of the market.

WAEC distances itself from the recruitment exercise

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has distanced itself from reports in a section of the media that it has called for applications from members of the public for job opportunities, in our latest WAEC News blog post of today, 8th October 2022.

This is contained in a statement by the council’s Acting Head, Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, and issued to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.

Mr. Adesina warned members of the public to beware of the activities of fraudsters, noting that the report did not emanate from the council.

Nigerian school celebrates 21 WAEC and 40 JAMB UTME outstanding performers

The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) has celebrated 21 students who performed exceptionally in the last West African School Certificate Examinations Council (WAEC) and 40 in the last Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME and results, in one of our latest WAEC News blog posts.

The school said that it added another feather in its cap through our Class of 2022 set’s results in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Despite the mass record of failure, there was a change in the narrative for us at the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC), as we have no fewer than 21 making straight 6A’s to 9A’s in WAEC and 40 students scoring above 300 in JAMB.

ATSO charges WAEC and NECO to adopt JAMB’s CBT Method to curb Examination Malpractices in Nigeria

The newly elected president of the Association Of Tutorial Schools Operators of Nigeria (ATSO), Comrade Shodunke Oludotun Michael has charged the management of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) to take a cue from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the adoption of Computer Based Test (CBT) which he described as a standard way of curbing exam malpractice in the country in our latest WAEC News blog post for today.

Comrade Micheal in his maiden speech as the National President of ATSO, during the Annual Convention of the association in Ibadan, Oyo State maintained that the issue of exam malpractice in Nigeria is a problem that has been reoccurring from time to time in the country and as long as there is exam malpractice remains in our education system, the country cannot be fixed.

WAEC 2022 WASSCE Results: Southwest placement in WAEC Performance Index Worrisome — APC South Africa

The All Progressives Congress (APC), South Africa chapter, has said the placement of Southwest states in the recent West African Examinations Council (WAEC) performance index depicts a downward trend in the quality of education in the southwestern region, in one of our latest WAEC News blog post, dated Sunday, 28th August 2022.

The Chapter’s Chairman, Bola Babarinde, in a statement on Sunday in Osogbo, expressed concern over the poor performance of students in the Southwest states at the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) and urged an urgent need for the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission to organise the educational summit, where all stakeholders in the education sector would proffer solution to the problem.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2022 WASSCE result showed that Nigerian students performed five percent worse than what they did in 2021 nationwide.

WAEC extends WASSCE for Private Candidates – Second Series for 2022 to 18th September, 2022

The West African Examinations Council wishes to inform intending candidates that the registration period for the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2022 – Second Series has been extended till Wednesday, 31 August, 2022. It was earlier scheduled to close on 15 August.

There is also a development resulting in further extension 31 August, 2022 to 2 September and now currently to 18th September as revealed on WAEC Portal to enable prospective eligible WAEC to generate e-Registration PIN and register for the exam online.

WAEC 2022 WASSCE Results: We never released data ranking states by performance in 2022 SCCE – The report ranking Enugu first is false and malicious – WAEC Boss

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said that it never released data ranking states by their performance in the recently concluded 2022 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), in one of our recent WAEC News blog posts on Saturday, 27th August 2022.

In a statement to NAN, Patrick Areghan, WAEC’s head of national office, said the council’s attention had been called to a viral report, purported to be from it, ranking states by the performance of their candidates and that the report did not emanate from the council.

“We read from some social media that WAEC has rated performance of states in our recent West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), presumably the 2022 examination for school candidates. I want to say here that the ranking is completely false as it did not emanate from the council’’, Patrick Areghan.

The report rated Enugu as being first, followed by Edo and Benue, with 93.9, 93.5, and 91.7 percent respectively among others. It ranked Kebbi as the 20th out of the 37 ranked states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the public school-based performance data, supposedly made available by the council

WAEC Releases Final International Timetable for WASSCE 2022 School Examination

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has released the Final International Timetable for West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) School Examination for 2022 for candidates in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Gambia, in one of our recent WAEC News blog posts.

The Final International Timetable, as released on WAEC News Portal has revealed that the examination would start on the 16 May and end on 24 June.

WAEC deploys new Technological Instrument (Item Differential Profile – IDP) for the Detection of Collusion Cases in Objective Tests

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has deployed a new Technological Instrument (Item Differential Profile) for the Detection of Collusion Cases in Objective Tests which has been introduced during the 2019 WASSCE for School Candidates’ e-Registration Process, in one of our recent WAEC News blog posts.

According to the news report released on WAEC News Portal, WAEC through its commitment to combatting examination malpractice, consistent innovation, and deployment of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in its operations, has deployed a software application for detecting cases of collusion (malpractice) among candidates during the conduct of Objective tests.

The new technological solution is capable of detecting most of the collusion cases that occur during the conduct of objective tests in WASSC examinations, and reporting on the candidates who were implicated, using the charge sheets, that are electronically generated by the computer.

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has released May/June 2022 School Candidates results which took place between May 16 and June 24.

The results of WASSCE for School Candidates,2022 which is ‘out’ now can be checked by students. The candidates are urged to visit WAEC Result Portal on waecdirect.org. WAEC Introduces Aptitude Test Services for ‘Selection, Commercial and Industrial and Private/Individual Tests’ for Organizations and Institutions

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has introduced Aptitude Test Services for corporate bodies, institutions, and governmental and non-governmental organizations in one of our recent WAEC News blog posts.

WAEC will render the service to its clients through its Aptitude Test Department. The Aptitude Tests Department (ATD) is an arm of the Test Administration Division of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) responsible for developing and administering aptitude tests for clients.

According to the WAEC News report in its Portal, WAEC stated that the aptitude would be available as ‘Selection Tests’ in various educational programmes in Secondary Schools, Technical/Vocational Schools, Schools of Nursing, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Technology and mature programmes in universities, among others.  It will also offer ‘Commercial and Industrial Tests’ for selection into various jobs, including unskilled and semi-skilled, clerical/secretarial, technical/skilled, and supervisory/managerial. The aptitude test will assess the abilities and potentials of individuals as ‘Private/Individual Tests’

The examination body also released information regarding Reporting Test Scores, Time of Release Service Charges, and Contact Information on how to obtain the service.

WAEC introduces Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Training Centre (WTTC) in Nigeria

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has introduced a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Training Centre (WTTC) in Ogba, Lagos Nigeria in one of our recent WAEC News blog posts.

According to the news report on WAEC Portal, the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Training Centre (WTTC) is a 500-seater fully-air-conditioned state-of-the-art hall featuring 500 functional computer systems, a robust computer server, UPS-enabled systems, an adequate waiting area for testees, adequate security for access and crowd control and CCTV camera within and around the complex.

The Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Training Centre (WTTC) is located at Number 60 Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Lagos with reachable mobile phone numbers and wttclagos@waec.org.ng as the contact email address.
