The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will use the National Identity Number issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for the conduct of 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
See State police command warns JAMB students
This was disclosed by JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, who said that the introduction of National Identity Number as a requirement for sitting for JAMB UTME Examination was in compliance with Federal Government directive that National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) be the primary data collection centre.
The JAMB Registrar further noted that using National Identity Number (NIN) would prevent all forms of JAMB UTME registration infractions.
He made this known at JAMB’s headquarters in Abuja when Mr Dasuki Arabi, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) paid him a visit.
The registrar through Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Information, said that the board has concluded arrangements with the NIMC to use NIN as a pilot for 2020 JAMB UTME.
Prof Is-haq Oloyede reaffirmed that the board will be using the NIN of prospective candidates for 2020 JAMB UTME registration in line with the compliance with the Federal Government’s directive that the NIMC should be the primary data collection centre.
Mr Dasuki Arabi, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), , urged JAMB to take advantage of the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) developed by the bureau to strengthen its capacity and render quality service to the public.
The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) boss educated that Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) enhances an organisation’s ability to have performance assessment so that it can identify gaps and proffer solutions in real time. The President has directed agencies to work together so as to improve the quality of services that are offered.
He finally revealed that the Bureau of Public Service Reforms is working hard to ensure that JAMB and NIMC migrate to Nigeria’s data ecosystem in a similar way the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) did.
