
Oracle & Orange to Launch Cloud Computing Services in 2 West African Countries

Oracle & Orange to accelerate cloud digital transformation in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
US-based cloud computing multi-technology company Oracle and French giant telecommunications company Orange have announced a collaboration agreement as part of a joint initiative to accelerate cloud digital transformation in two West African countries, according to IT News Africa.
Under the agreement, the two companies will evaluate their plans to deploy Oracle Cloud regions using Orange infrastructure in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
The two companies also announced plans to jointly provide cloud services to corporate and public sector organizations in West Africa, starting in Senegal and Ivory Coast.
As part of this initiative, Orange plans to leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to complement its enterprise-class managed cloud services portfolio.

According to the announcement, the planned joint Gotomarket model is designed to support West African business and civil society organizations driving digital transformation through advanced cloud services that provide operational efficiencies, low costs, and high-security standards.
The two companies also plan to collaborate on a project to migrate some of Orange’s internal applications to Oracle Cloud to improve efficiency through digitization, particularly in management processes.
Discussions are ongoing to jointly define the scope, manner, and feasibility of this strategic phase, which could create significant synergies across the Group’s presence in the region.

Alioune Ndiaye, Chairman and CEO, Orange Middle-East and Africa said that they strongly believed that digital technology is a catalyst for economic transformation on the African continent, contributing not only to sustainable employment but also to socio-economic development.
He described Cloud infrastructure as one of the key solutions Orange brings to companies and public institutions in its role as a multi-service operator. ‘’Oracle’s industry-recognized solutions should bring additional value to Orange’s Cloud portfolio’’, the Orange Middle-East and Africa Chairman and CEO said.
Clay Magouyrk, EVP, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure hinted that organizations in the West and Sub-Saharan Africa region had begun exploring migrating workloads to the cloud with improved bandwidth access and increased awareness of the benefits of cloud computing.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure EVP said that this initiative with Orange is an important step toward introducing world-class cloud infrastructure in the region.
“As organizations in West Africa start their digital transformations, we look forward to joining with Orange to offer a rich portfolio of cloud infrastructure services,” said Jonathan Tikochinsky, EVP, Global Strategic Clients Group at Oracle.
