The full reopening of US Schools in September a serious doubt

California, Houston, Kansas, Dallas, Denver, Tucson, Arkansas and West Virginia are among the school district wishing to delay tradition in-person school classroom

US President Trump has threatened to cut schools funding if the districts fail to reopen in Fall.

The full reopening of schools in September in the U.S. is in serious doubt. Without clear guidance, more and more US schools are trying to avoid deciding on reopening the school by kicking the can down the road as the coronavirus infection cases keep on rising in the U.S.

Over 50 million U.S. school children have been out of school ever since coronavirus disease broke out – a crisis that has affected the global education community.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom had shut that local guidance down during a press conference, saying that counties on the state’s coronavirus “watch list, including Orange County, could not return to the school classroom.

The Texas Houston Independent School District announced that it would postpone the start of the school classroom activities to after Labour Day which is to be celebrated on September 7 this year, and then remain in remote classes for the first six weeks of the term, saving a couple of extra weeks of remote learning. The same applies to Kansas counties.

Laura Kelly, Kansas governor noted that even though students learn better in the traditional in-person school classroom, but that it would be immature to rush back to school as the coronavirus continues to spread. She pushed the state’s schools reopening until after Labour Day, as well.

Dallas County also delayed instruction for both public and private schools in the area until after Labour Day.

Other school districts delaying their school years include Denver, Tucson, and the States of Arkansas and West Virginia.

The largest school district in the country, New York City, and California is trying to reopen through a hybrid method of in-person classes and online learning. New York governor, Andrew Cuomo said that New York school districts will open only when the rate of coronavirus infection is low in the county.

U.S. Schools are making these choices in the circumstance of the U.S. federal government’s continued urges to reopen traditional in-person without clear guidance on how to do that safely.

U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened, in June, to cut the schools funding if they fail to reopen in fall – something political analysts say he can’t possibly do. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany reemphasized President Trump’s stance wanting schools’ full reopening despite the dicey nature of the scientific report.

U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany comments contrasted with the guidance from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is similar with other advisory boards, clearly classified schools reopening as risky, and said children, could be “super-spreaders’’  of the coronavirus.
