State Police Command warns JAMB Students

The State Police Command of Ogun has warned students who are going to sit for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to desist of any form of malpractice in order to avoid getting into trouble.

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the State Police Command, DSP Bimbola Oyeyemi gave the warning on Tuesday in an interview with NAN in Ota, Ogun State.

The News Agency, NAN, reports that not less than 1.8 million candidates will be sitting for the UTME Examinations that will be conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), starting across the states of the federation beginning on April 11.

Bimbola Oyeyemi notified the students that examination malpractice is an grievous offence and that any student caught in the act will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. He reminded them that the police had been empowered by the law the power to prosecute anybody caught in act of examination malpractice during the JAMB examination.

The State Police spokesman said that the police would be in various centres in the state to observe and make sure that the demands of the law will be compromised during the exams.

JAMB had earlier issued directives to all examination officials, security agents inclusive to ensure compliance with all guidelines, rules and regulations on the examination as strict adherence to the premise on biometric verification of every candidate being mandatorily required.

It also identified watches, pen, mobile phones and similar electronic device, books, calculators, smart eye lenses, ear pieces, recorders and jewellery as prohibited items that will be allowed into examination halls. Key holders, bank cards, erasers, bluetooth and wifi devices, microphones among others. He also added that spy reading glasses must be scrutinized before admission into the examination hall.
