The world of job opportunities is changing rapidly. Future jobs are no more secured since the invention of robotic technology but good knowledge and skills in Mathematics and Computer Science are the 2 subjects that will likely increase the chances of school children and students securing future jobs.
In the past, before the industrial boom, there were no robots to do human jobs but today the advancement in manufacturing automation is threatening human jobs.
It is estimated that up to 20 million manufacturing jobs could be replaced globally by robots by 2030 as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, nanotechnology, and other socio-economic factors replace the need for human workers.
Already almost over 5 million manufacturing jobs were lost to robots between 2000 and 2016 in the US, and China alone.
Refocusing skills education to Mathematics and Computer Science skills proficiency
Ever since national governments, business leaders, employers of labor, and teachers were urged to refocus skills education and develop skills by retraining and re-skilling to adapt to growing automation and technology, two subjects have dominantly emerged to offer more job opportunities– Mathematics and Computer Science.

The same robotic technological advances will also create above 2 million new jobs since manufacturing automation and AI are increasing the demand for technological skills over 15 years from now.
Most of the new jobs will be in more specialized areas related to Mathematics and Computing technology, such that graduates with expertise in Mathematics and Computer Science would be only be expected to have high job opportunities in but also contribute to innovative and creative areas including “high-end chips and software programming, intelligence in technology, creation of new materials, advanced manufacturing, internet security, among others.
