Israel has become the first country in the world to impose a second coronavirus lockdown ever since the looming of the second wave of coronavirus pandemic, according to a media report.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has announced that the nationwide coronavirus lockdown would start on Friday, the start of the Jewish New Year holiday, Rosh Hashanah, period. Schools, shops, and businesses will shut alongside restrictions on movements and gatherings.

Israel has reported almost 150,000 cases of coronavirus and more than 1,100 deaths ever since it got its first infection, but new infections have recently risen to 4,000 per day.
Benjamin Netanyahu said in a televised address that their goal is to stop the increase in infection cases and lower morbidity but acknowledged that those steps would come at a difficult price for all of them.
The Prime Minister lamented that such lockdown is not the holiday they are used to.
Benjamin Netanyahu has faced months of protests from the Israelis demanding his resignation over a series of corruption charges and anger over his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Former Israeli Health Minister, Yaakov Litzman, who represents ultra-orthodox Jews, resigned from the government in protest at the restrictions, which will affect Yom Kippur prayers and other religious celebrations.
After moving quickly to impose lockdown, the Israeli Prime Minister is facing criticism for ending the measures too early in order to reopen up the country’s economy.
The country has plunged into recession causing a delay in financial payments to those who are in need. The rate of employment is said to have skyrocketed.
On Sunday, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a record global rise in coronavirus cases rising by 307,930 in 24 hours.
The biggest increases were in India, the United States, and Brazil; total deaths rose by 5,537 to a total of 917,417, according to the global health body.
India leads the way in new daily cases with record 97,570 cases reported in a single day last week. The country has recorded a total of 4.75 million cases, second only to the US, where the tally stands at 6.5 million.
