TOP 100 JAMB UTME CANDIDATES GET UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS FROM 4 LEADING COMMERCIAL BANKS

Top 100 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates that wrote this year’s examination have been offered free scholarships by 4 leading commercial banks in the country.

The 4 leading commercial banks are offering the top 100 UTME candidates scholarships to study courses applied for in tertiary institutions of their choice across the country.

It was reported that the list of top 100 UTME candidates would be sent to JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) this week for their perusal.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Information Head, of JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) said that offer of scholarships to the top 100 candidates was a demonstration of the banks’ acceptability and confidence in the board’s services and efforts at repositioning pubic examination conducts for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The JAMB Information Head further explained that the conduct of the 2019 UTME experienced a turnaround of events showing the board’s capacity to overcome emerging challenges with respect to conduct of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTMEs consequently prompting many corporate organizations outside the 4 commercial banks to call on JAMB for the names of top scoring candidates for offer of scholarships.

He therefore urged corporate organizations seeking for JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates for sponsorship to vary their required conditions for scholarships like offering scholarships to JAMB UTME top scorers who haven’t benefitted from any scholarship programme previously will spread the benefits to other deserving candidates.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Information Head, called for all hands to be on deck to fight, on all front, examination malpractices perpetrated through various forms of examination cheats in order to consolidate on the educational gains of Nigerians.

He, however, reminded corporate organizations of the need for JAMB UTME candidates to pass Ordinary Level & post-UTME examinations to be guaranteed of securing university admission despite scoring high in JAMB UTME.
