UNION LEADER TELLS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THAT REFUSAL TO OBEY COURT ORDERS IS ANOTHER FORM OF CORRUPTION
…. CRITICIZES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR REFUSING TO HONOUR THE 2009 AGREEMENTS
…. ADVISES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO ADDRESS PENDING ISSUES WITH THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM ONCE AND FOR ALL
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Comrade Austin Jadi said that the federal government’s failure to obey the court order is another form of corruption and is being perpetrated by the same federal government that claims to be fighting corruption.
While speaking to Journalists shortly after holding an emergency meeting with the members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi at the Union’s Office located at the Yelwa Campus, Comrade Austin Jadi said that it is quite unjust for the Federal Government to selectively address the problems in the university system.
The two Unions, under the umbrella of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of ATBU are said to be withdrawing their services following the directives by their National leadership in order to press home the issues of their unpaid Earned Allowances demand from the Federal Government.
The ABTU JAC boss further criticized the federal government for refusing to honour the 2009 agreements. He cited a court order that supports the fact that a responsible government is expected to respect court orders and the opinion of the general population.
Comrade Austin Jadi, described the actions of the federal government as a form of corruption known as moral corruption which he rates harder than financial corruption the type the government is fighting against and identified societal corruption and social corruption as other harder forms of corruption than financial corruption.
He further said that it is part of corruption for the Federal Government not to do what is expected of it or disrespect the collective bargain documents that it entered into.
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) JAC chairman moreover advised the government to do the needful by addressing the issues with the university system once and for all.
