West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Registers and Conducts WASSCE Examination for School and Private Candidates

The West African Examination Council ( WAEC)’s School Examination is WASSCE for School Candidates usually taken in May/June while the Private Candidates Examination is WASSCE for Private Candidates usually taken in January/February (First Series) and November/December (Second Series) every year devoid of any form of disruptions. WASSCE means West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination and the present WAEC’S WASSCEs are conducted simultaneously in five West African countries – Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

WAEC e-Registration and Assessment Online Website (Portal) Services

WAEC online portal services are offered on four different official websites, all working together to achieve the objectives of the examination body. The online service portals are waecdirect.org, waecnigeria.org, waeconline.org.ng and waec.org.

WAEC online registration (e-registration) is meant for schools that have a personal computer PC with internet service for their schools’ WASSCE School Candidates registration. The candidates’ registration task outside National Identity Number (NIN) Registration is carried out by the school principal or examination officer or any other delegated authorized school user.

How to do Online Registration) for WAEC WASSCE School Candidates May/June 2022/2023 and 2023/2024

Here are the steps on how to register online for WAEC (WASSCE) for school candidates for 2023 and 2024:

National Identity Number (NIN) Registration

6. Proceed to the bank to make a total payment for the WASSCE (SC) 2023 in multiple of N18,000 through NIBSS EILLSPAY, quoting your school’s Centre Number as a Unique ID at the Bank. The approved banks for payments are Access Bank Access Diamond, ECOBANK Fidelity Bank First Bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Heritage Bank, Jaiz Bank, Polaris Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank Standard Chartered Bank, Sterling Bank, Union Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Unity Bank WEMA Bank, Zenith Bank.

E-registration on WAEC Portal is carried out by the School Examination Officer or delegated authorized school-candidates’ user who would create an account, log in to the WAEC Registration Portal, and register the candidates.

Capture the photo of the candidates using the Microsoft Lifecam HD 3000 webcam and the fingerprint using The Digital Persona Scanner (Fingerprint Scanner) OR Scan the actual passport photograph of the candidate using a flatbed scanner or Take a passport photograph of the candidate with a digital camera and save the picture in JPEG format using candidate’s name. The passport photograph should not be more than 15Kb in size with contrasting backgrounds and must be clear. 20. Double-click on the Biometric data-capturing software to launch

21. Capture each candidate’s passport photograph, fingerprints and signature

23. Click on the “Confirm Entries Ok?” checkbox by the affirmation statement to affirm that all the entries including the attached passport photograph are correct.

24. Click on ‘Submit’ to register the candidate and save candidate’s registration information.

25. Continue with the same process until you register all the candidates

Note: WAEC online registration can be done with internet-enabled PCs in the school, at a Cyber Café or Business Centre with computers and scanners/digital cameras at any WAEC Branch or Zonal Office. WAEC has installed in all its Zonal/Branch Offices, PCs, scanners, printers, and internet service to enable schools to register their candidates online or upload the candidates they have registered offline. The use of the internet service outside that of the school would likely come at an extra cost.

WAEC offline registration is meant for schools that do not have a personal computer PC (desktop, laptop or palmtop, or tablet) or have a PC without internet service for their schools’ WASSCE School Candidates registration.

8. Download WAEC Offline Registration Biometric Software Module. You need to have a computer system – a Windows 7 or later version with a high-speed processor (at least 2GB RAM and 150GB Hard Disk), a Flatbed Scanner or Digital Camera, a Flash RAM or DVD-CD Writer – to install and use the WAEC Offline Registration Module. See below the steps on how to install WAEC Offline Registration Module.

9. Download Biometrics capture software for data (photograph and fingerprint) capturing online. 18. Capture the photo of the candidates using the Microsoft Lifecam HD 3000 webcam and the fingerprint using The Digital Persona Scanner (Fingerprint Scanner). Scan the actual passport photograph of the candidate using a flatbed scanner or Take a passport photograph of the candidate with a digital camera and save the picture in JPEG format using the candidate’s name. The passport photograph should not be more than 15Kb in size with contrasting backgrounds and must be clear. 19. Attach the candidate’s passport photograph to the “passport photo box”. See below the steps on how to attach a candidate’s passport photo

20. Click on “Confirm Entries Ok” checkbox by the affirmation statement to affirm that all the entries including the attached passport photograph are correct.

21. Click on ‘Save’ to save the candidate’s registration information and ‘Submit’ to register it offline.

22. Continue with the same process until you register all the candidates.

23. Revisit the WAEC Branch/Zonal Office

24. Mount the CD-ROM or Flash RAM into their computer system connected to the internet, and open and upload offline registration details online to the WAEC database.

25. Print the list of the registered candidates on paper.
