Nigerian Education students get World Teachers’ Day ‘Cash gift’

Nigerian Government  approves  N75,000 as a stipend per semester for Bachelor in education students in public universities across the country

The FG also approves N50,000 approves as a stipend per semester for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) students.

President Muhammadu Buhari – led Nigerian Government on Tuesday approved N75,000 as a stipend per semester for education students in public universities across the country.

The development was announced by the Minister for Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu during the annual celebration of World Teachers’ Day at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu said that undergraduate students of B.Ed / B.A. Ed/ BSc. Ed in Public institutions would receive stipends of N75,000.00 per semester while Nigeria Certificate in Education  NCE students would get N50,000.00 as stipends per semester.

The Federal Government of Nigeria Minister also assured that efforts were ongoing to grant automatic employment to students after graduation, as the Ministry of Education would collaborate with state governments.

“The Federal Government should find the modality through which respective state governments could provide automatic employment for NCE graduates at Basic Education level,” he added.

Recently in August 2021, the Federal Government of Nigeria decided to restructure its educational system by mandating teachers to obtain a degree in Education. ‘Degree in Education, as appeared in the title of this article, means a degree obtained from the Education Faculty in higher institutions.
